I listened to the audio of this, first time audio ever for anything ‘Aisling’, and I had to stop because I couldn’t get past the pronunciation of Ballygobbard. 🙈😂 in my head, it was always Bally-gub-erd. And I don’t know that I can deal with Bally-go-barred. For some reason, it sounds posher than the town I imagine. 😂 I think I’ll just keep with the reading but it has me wondering, were there any other pronunciations people found on audio versions, different to how they had thought it? 🤔
May, you’re not alone! When we announced The BGB Project it came to our attention that we pronounce it one way and everyone else pronounces it the other. The fact that it’s completely made up means no one is right or wrong! -S
Our pronunciation of it actually came from @Darach back in the day when he suggested that BGB might stand for “baile gob árd” and so the “gubb ahrd” just stuck in our heads. We’ve discovered that the majority of people prefer “bally gobberd (rhymes with robber-d” - E
Snickers trousers mean business 😜 great reveal of Dermot
It wasn’t just Maeve Hennessy who saw Dermo at EP last year (it was us, he was in our campsite) -S
