If you’re a woman in your 30s or younger, you probably remember KISS, Ireland’s only magazine for teenage girls. It was our answer to Seventeen in the US and similar to the UK’s Bliss and Sugar, with our main selling point being the prices on our clothes were in Euro, not Sterling. No, really.

I started my writing career there in 2005, when I answered an ad for an editorial assistant. I stayed in the company for more than five years, working my way up through the ranks to become editor-in-chief in 2008. KISS was my first proper job, a female-dominated office where we shared Feminax and hot water bottles and once watched Colin Farrell’s sex tape on company time. Unfortunately, KISS no longer
