ARTEFACT #010

BALLYGOBBARD IN TURMOIL AS TOWN ASKS “WHO KILLED BIANCA?”

Remains draw interest in decades old case of missing Bichon Frisé

By Sylvia deRossa

There is no denying the house is set to be one of the finest in the area. Situated on the Knocknamanagh road, the 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside are unparalleled. On this day, however, the building site is still. The cement mixer, unmoving. The mobile generator connected to the kettle, quiet. The only sounds are the muffled sobs of homeowner Majella Moran.

Moran, a lifelong local and primary school deputy head, is happy to guide me around the footprint of the house, its walls paused at knee height, pointing out various features – the bay window of the sitting room, the walk-in pantry, the utility room that will one day boast a raised washing machine and tumble dryer as well as the custom-made space for a robot hoover dock. What was supposed to be the happiest time in Moran’s life, documenting her self-build to her 230 Instagram followers, has become a nightmare.
