Read last week's instalment

Read the story from the beginning

It’s summertime in Ballygobbard and work on the time capsule has slowed a little, what with the committee busy with other endeavours. Una Hatton’s on her annual three weeks away to the apartment in Albufeira, Peter Mahon’s up to his eyes with Beast tourism and Aisling is out of the country with work.

Majella Moran is already dreading the return to school in September but for the moment she’s focusing on life with Pablo and Baby Aisling, and she’s up to ninety with excitement at the prospect of a brand new house for their gorgeous little family. With Big Aisling away for ten days, Maj emailed her with all the latest. What better new artefact for The Ballygobbard Project than her newsy missive? …

ARTEFACT #008: MAJELLA EMAILS AISLING

From: madjella_m@gmail.com

To: aisling@mandyblumenthal.com

Subject: news!!!

Hiya bird

Hope you had a good flight! How is everyone in New York? What did Gearodín think of the sour cream and onion Taytos? I won’t touch them, I’m a cheese and onion purist, as you know, but Pablo is fully addicted now. If they discontinue them like they did the fizzy cola bottle ones he’ll never recover, and I told Eamon Filan that when I was in buying nappies last week.  He said he’d put in a word. Is it absolutely roasting over there? Mandy Blumenthal is a sadist making you go over in the summer. I hope you’re not wearing your sandals. Niamh From Across the Road posted a TikTok about a rat running over her bare toes in the Subway and I’ve been having nightmares. She was getting ripped to shreds by real New Yorkers in the comments for having her toes out in the first place so I suppose something good came of it.
